Shelby brings an abundance of passion and a service mindset to her role at HER. Shelby comes to the organization after fulfilling roles such as a teacher, program associate and office management. Shelby is “thrilled” to be part of HER, serving women in Baltimore alongside a dynamic team.
Shelby shared: “Growing up and all throughout my life, I’ve always regarded social justice, empathy, and compassionate dignity as personal values. I’ve always had an inner desire to bring these values to those who need it most. I’m so grateful that I’m able to combine work with my passion. I was drawn to HER because of the evident change it is bringing in our communities, that is doing the hard, important work of coming shoulder to shoulder with women, meeting them where they are.
I hope that in my time as a Skills and Strengths Facilitator, I can grow in my knowledge of trauma-informed care and advocacy on my peer’s behalf. I look forward to gaining more understanding through the leadership and peers at HER.”
When Shelby is not working, you can catch her taking long walks to Starbucks or trying to hunt down Baltimore’s best wings. (So far, my favorite is iBar!) She enjoys being outside, going to sporting events, and volunteering at the community food distribution each month.
