At 34-years-old Marcia is finally feeling hopeful. “Tomorrow is still there and there’s always a possibility for change,” she said. Six months clean of heroin, she says her future is finally in sight. “It’s like a new life. I never would’ve thought in a million years I would be standing in the position I’m in today with all I have to look forward to,” she said.
It wasn’t long ago she found herself in a much different place, addicted to drugs and selling her body.“ I started prostituting two years after I became addicted to drugs,” she said.
Marcia says she even escaped potentially becoming a victim of sex trafficking. “A John picked me up and proceeded to lock me in a basement for one week. I was able to escape through a window,” she said.
